The Mud Cat dredge that JND Thomas Co., Inc. uses is easily transportable because of its compact design. When in the lagoon, it follows a steel cable stretched the length of the pond, anchored at the corners. A heavily muffled Detroit Diesel engine powers it. Normal dairy procedures can continue without interruption because the Mud Cat floats on water and dredges solids from the bottom. The size of each lagoon and the thickness of the slurry determine how long each project will take.
